Project Overview
Transforming a Clientβs Draft into a Structured, Data-Driven Capstone Paper
A client approached Excellence Innovations for professional assistance with an Applied Business Economics capstone paper. The project involved improving an existing draft while preserving the client’s original research direction, core introduction, problem statement, objectives, and important case-specific information.
The paper focused on:
βThe Case of Axelum Resources Corporation: Low-Cost, High-Return Strategy for Entering the High-Margin Coconut Products Market in Spain.β

π§ 24Γ7 Support
Client Initial Requirement
The project began with a direct consultation in which the client confirmed that the assignment required support from someone with an economics background. That requirement was important because the capstone paper combined applied economics, business strategy, financial performance, and industry analysis rather than relying on a single academic discipline.
The initial communication also established the working process: the client would share the existing material, and the paper would then be reviewed and improved around the assignmentβs economics-focused requirements.

Starting Point: An Existing 34-Page Draft
The client subsequently supplied an Applied Business Economics Capstone Paper Draft of approximately 34 pages. The instruction was not to replace the original paper with a new concept. Instead, the client asked for revision and improvement while keeping the main ideas behind the introduction, problem statement, objectives, and other specified details unchanged.
This made the assignment a targeted academic-development task. The work therefore needed to preserve the authorβs intended case direction while improving structure, presentation, analytical depth, and the way evidence was integrated into the discussion.
Required Academic Framework
The client also provided a clear paper format. The required structure included front matter such as the List of Tables, List of Figures, and Executive Summary, followed by a chapter-based analysis of the company and its environment.
Chapter 1 β Introduction: background of the study, statement of the problem, objectives, significance, scope and limitations, and definition of terms.
Chapter 2 β External Analysis of the Firm: recent macroeconomic performance, PEST analysis, industry overview and analysis, and Porterβs Five Forces analysis.
Chapter 3 β Internal Analysis of the Firm: internal business and financial evaluation, including efficiency-related analysis.
The structure meant that the final paper had to connect broad economic conditions with industry forces and company-level financial performance. The revision process was therefore organised around the clientβs prescribed framework rather than imposing an unrelated structure.

Financial Ratio Analysis: Building the Quantitative Evidence
A central part of the completed analysis was the summary of key financial ratios for 2019β2023. The appendix included the Current Ratio, Debt-to-Equity Ratio, Debt Ratio, Return on Assets, Return on Equity, Gross Profit Margin, EBITDA Margin, Operating Margin, Net Profit Margin, and Asset Turnover.
The figures provided a multi-dimensional view of performance. For example, the Current Ratio moved from 2.97 in 2019 to 5.88 in 2021, then to 4.69 in 2022 and 3.90 in 2023. The Debt-to-Equity Ratio remained comparatively low across the period, moving from 0.23 in 2019 to 0.13 in 2023. Profitability measures, however, became negative in 2023 in the supplied ratio summary, including Return on Assets (-7.3%), Return on Equity (-8.2%), EBITDA Margin (-12%), Operating Margin (-3%), and Net Profit Margin (-14.4%).
Efficiency Analysis: Turning Ratios into Interpretation
The completed paper did not stop at listing ratios. The efficiency section interpreted Asset Turnover as an indicator of the organisationβs ability to convert its asset base into revenue. The recorded ratio was 0.50 times in 2019, 0.51 in 2020, 0.63 in 2021, 0.62 in 2022, and 0.51 in 2023.
The written analysis highlighted the improvement through 2021 and the broadly stable level in 2022, followed by a decline in 2023. In the source paper, this decline was discussed in relation to sales revenue rather than a reduction in assets, and the result was interpreted as weaker asset-utilisation efficiency.
A chart was included directly below the discussion so that the movement in the ratio could be understood at a glance. This is an example of how the final paper combined narrative interpretation with quantitative evidence instead of presenting financial data as an isolated appendix.

Project Outcome
The finished work transformed a substantial existing draft into a more coherent Applied Business Economics case analysis while respecting the clientβs instruction not to change the central ideas of the paper. The final structure connected macroeconomic and industry analysis with internal financial evidence, enabling the companyβs strategic position to be discussed using both qualitative and quantitative material.
The project also demonstrated the value of presenting financial analysis in layers: first through the underlying ratio table, then through focused interpretation, and finally through visual trends. This approach made the paper easier to follow and gave the quantitative sections a clearer analytical purpose.

Client Feedback
After the work was organised and delivered, the client expressed appreciation for the patience, service, and coordination provided during the project. The feedback serves as the closing evidence in the case-study journey: from the initial request for economics expertise, through draft review and analysis, to completed support and client acknowledgement.
